After 6 days away at my folks and Lou’s folks, we’re back home in London for a day. 
Having a little chill time at home before heading off to Norfolk for New Years.

One Hot Minute by the Red Hot Chili Peppers was released in 1996.

It was the mid-90’s & The Chili’s had waited 5 years to release a follow up to the worldwide smash Blood Sugar Sex Magik that put them on the map. Oh and there was the small matter of John Frusciante having left the band. 

They recruited Dave Navarro (he of ex Janes Addiction fame) and knocked out a wonderfully rocky, funk tinged album. 
Sure there’s some bizarre stuff on the album. (Pea is just Flea on his own, strumming along and singing about how he’s a teeny tiny little pea) but it’s a lovely album, and very much overlooked. Once Frusciante came back for Californication in ‘99, One Hot Minute became the unloved bastard lovechild that people weren’t allowed to talk about.

Which is a crying shame, as for my money it’s as great as anything they released before or since.
