I went to see the folks this evening to drop off the car i borrowed (in between our old one getting scrapped, & sorting out a new (old) one.) and have dinner with them & catch up.
So after dinner, I’m getting ready to head off to the train station back to London, & I quickly show them some of the photos I shot for Henrie’s Lookbook for London & Paris Fashion Weeks.
Now bear in mind, Dad knows his Onions when it comes to cameras & photography. All the kid pictures of us were shot on film SLR’s. He has an Olympus XA2 which is just a lovely compact 35mm & he still shoots on one of the first 1mega pixel Olympus digi compacts that came out (with a Carl Zeiss lens I think). He has an awesome mini 110 Pentax SLR and regularly rocks a Canon Powershot because “you can get AA batteries wherever you are in the world” (- they’re going to Iran in a fortnight, I kid you not)
Well, there’s a standing joke among me, Lou (my wife) my brothers, & my mum that the BEST compliment, you’ll ever get off dad is “not bad”
You get a “that’s not bad at all” from the old man and you know you’ve done something right.
So I’m showing them the pics I shot for Henrie for London Fashion Week. We’ve been talking about how i lit it, how he likes the setting and after Dad’s told me which of the pics he likes & why, he goes:
“They’re quite good actually”
- and I almost fell over.
